The Sentinel Team
Claire Qureshi leads Sentinel Bio as our CEO, co-founder, and member of the Board of Directors. Claire brings more than 15 years of experience in leadership roles spanning biotech, global health, and strategy consulting positions.
As a Senior Director At Novavax, she co-led the company’s global alliances, including its partnerships with COVAX, CEPI, UNICEF, and PAHO for the international launch of Novavax’ COVID-19 vaccine. Before Novavax, she held leadership roles at the Office of the WHO Ambassador for Global Strategy and the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Health, co-leading efforts to finance and scale community health systems globally. Claire also spent time in the US Treasury, overseeing International Affairs, Terrorism & Financial Intelligence, and Tax Policy as a member of the Office of the Chief of Staff for Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.
Claire began her career at McKinsey & Company, where she supported hospitals, health systems, and pharmaceutical companies. She received her MBA from Harvard Business School and her B.A. from Yale University. She lives just outside of Washington, D.C.
Joshua Teperowski Monrad is a Program Director and co-founder of Sentinel Bio, leading our work on nucleic acid governance and ecosystem-building. Previously, Joshua spent two years leading the biosecurity efforts at a major philanthropic advisor, where he managed a substantial grantmaking program. Before that, he was a researcher and consultant with Oxford University and the Nuclear Threat Initiative.
He has co-authored scientific articles cited nearly two thousand times on topics ranging from biosecurity to epidemiology in leading journals including Science, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Nature Communications. He has also served as a peer reviewer on various journals, including the Lancet, the Journal of Medical Ethics, and npj Vaccines.
Joshua received his M.Sc in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the London School of Economics and his B.A. from Yale University. He lives in Amsterdam.
Advisory Council
Professor Leo Yee-Sin is a Senior Consultant to the Singapore Ministry of Health, a member of the Technical Advisory Panel to the World Bank Pandemic Fund, and advisor to multiple working groups of the World Health Organization. Prof. Leo previously served as the Executive Director of Singapore’s National Centre for Infectious Diseases, and led the country’s response to multiple infectious disease outbreaks during her tenure.
Dr. Sandeep Patel is the former Director of BARDA DRIVe, a major US government unit investing in next-generation medical countermeasures and other health security innovations. He previously co-founded a public-private partnership, KidneyX, to catalyze development of breakthrough therapies for renal failure and helped launch a Presidential initiative to combat kidney disease. He also oversaw the poliicies and practice of open innovation tools across the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Mark Dybul is a Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Medical Center of Georgetown University and Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at the Center for Global Health Practice and Impact. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. From 2006-2009, he was a principal architect of and later led the implementation of PEPFAR, the Bush Administration’s billion-dollar program to mitigate the global burden of HIV/AIDS.
Board of Directors
Dr. Kellie Liket is the President at the philanthropic advisor Ergo Impact. She has spent more than a decade supporting foundations, NGOs, and governments on their strategies, and has advised on hundreds of millions of dollars in philanthropic grants.
Max Henderson is the CEO at Ergo Impact. He has held leadership positions in technology and healthcare Google, Oracle, and McKesson, and was the co-founder and CEO of CovidActNow. He advises several non-profits and startups on their strategy, operations, and management.
