Organization

As an independent non-profit organization, Sentinel Bio is fully committed to our mission of preventing pandemics through action-oriented research, grants, and coordination.

Overview

Sentinel Bio is a non-profit organization that researches, funds, and scales solutions to mitigate biosecurity risks and pandemic threats. We pool capital from ambitious philanthropists to support NGOs, academics, and companies with an uncompromising focus on buying down global pandemic risks.
We have raised more than US$10M in discretionary capital and advised on $4M in grants from external funders. By 2026, we expect to deploy up to $15M p.a. before scaling our efforts even further. We have built a lean organization focused on directing up to 90% of our capital raise into the ecosystem we support.
We provide standardized, strategic reporting to create meaningful accountability to our mission and philanthropic partners.
Sentinel Bio Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2024 (EIN 99-3068480). Our headquarters are at 1100 15th St NW, Suite 400, Washington DC, 20005 and our team operates remotely across North America and Europe.

Funders

Sentinel is supported by a group of committed philanthropic partners who believe that achieving impact at scale requires pooling capital into a strategic fund with a clear vision of success. Our funders include individuals, philanthropic foundations, and Donor Advised Funds from the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Currently, all of our funding is unrestricted, and our funders have no direct influence on our research or the grants we make. To ensure the integrity of our work, we have developed a robust Gift Acceptance Policy governing the solicitation and acceptance of funding by Sentinel Bio Inc.

Our current supporters include Alpha Epsilon, the Bushnell-Kessel Charitable Fund, the Kwan family, the Larch Fund, Nicole Piccinini Pesco, and the Pandemic Defense Fund, as well as anonymous contributors representing about a fifth of our current support.

Getting in touch

We welcome collaborations with researchers, partners, funders, and organizations committed to making pandemics history within our lifetimes.

We take a thesis-driven approach, identifying strategic objectives and finding the right partners to achieve them collaboratively. Rather than accepting unsolicited proposals, we actively seek out potential partners through our networks. If your work aligns with our mission, send us a brief note about your interest.
