We provided $418,000 to Fourth Eon Bio to advance function-based screening in the nucleic acid synthesis industry. This includes evaluating whether AI-powered biological design tools can generate threats that evade current screening methods and developing new approaches to detect them. Fourth Eon Bio will also continue to build consensus across synthesis providers, screening tool developers, and biosecurity experts on how to standardize and deploy function-based screening.

We expect their work will advance global biosecurity by improving screening quality and resilience against emerging AI capabilities.
