Nucleic acid governance

We provided $226,344 to the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (CHS) for their work on nucleic acid synthesis governance, including research, policy development, and engagement with industry and policymakers.

We expect that CHS’ research will clarify how synthesis screening policies can strengthen biosecurity while promoting the bioeconomy. We also expect that their outreach will increase awareness and understanding of nucleic acid synthesis security among key decision-makers in the U.S. and internationally.
