Biosecurity Research Team

We provided $110,000 to a biosecurity research team to systematically map the nucleic acid synthesis industry. The project will assess the risk profile of different nucleic acid products, including custom and non-custom DNA of different types and lengths. The project will also map the global landscape of gene-length DNA synthesis providers and next-generation benchtop device manufacturers.

This work will inform our geographic prioritization and help global nucleic acid governance efforts focus on the products that pose the highest security risks.
